Does the Pope speak for us all on ecology and social justice?

Pope Francis’s recent publication focuses environment and sustainable development issues that the United Nations is set to tackle with the Sustainable Development Goals. Should we think of the Pope’s message as representing only people of his faith, or more broadly as a voice of the Global South?

As it happened

On Thursday October 8th, 2015 we held a debate examining the role religious figures should play in issues of international governance, as part of the Edinburgh World Justice Festival. The event featured talks by a panel of speakers including Dr Sara Rich Dorman (Lecturer in Politics, Edinburgh University), Prof Gabriele Hegerl (Professor of Climate System Science, Edinburgh University), and Prof Tim Hayward (Professor of Environmental Political Theory Director of Just World Institute, University of Edinburgh).
